The site at Maisy was lay hidden and buried for over 60 years. It was re-discovered, bought and then dug out again… to allow people to see this huge site as it was when the Germans lived there. It is unique among the Normandy sites. Nowhere else can you enter so many German trenches, only Maisy Battery and Longues sur Mer have original Gemran guns in place for visitors to get a real idea of what was defending the coast against the Allies… but the digging had to begin somewhere. It started with a group of grassy and bushy fields and now has transformed back into one of the most visited Normandy WW2 sites.

All the buildings are lit and clean – you can enter them all and walk around just as the German defenders did in 1944. You can look at bullet and bomb scarred buildings.
