School Tours
Maisy Battery has been visited by thousands of students over the years and we hope to continue hosting young minds while keeping history alive through new eyes and impressions.
Students enjoy following original German trench paths, exploring inside military defensive structures and standing next to 105mm cannons. We have three original WWII German Howitzers which have been put back onto the pits in their proper positions. These armaments could propel a shell 10 miles with ease - and there is not better way to appreciate the power and immensity of the cannons than by standing next to a huge 5 ton Howitzer.
Teachers will appreciate being able to immerse students into living history offering a personal, tactile experience they can refer to and reflect upon.
Things To Note:
- The site is primarily an outdoor open air site, so please make sure students are dressed for an outdoor field trip.
- There is a small gift shop on site where students may purchase drinks or souvenirs.
- Washroom facilities are unfortunately still very rustic as we are not yet connected to any water or power: please be prepared for portable toilets and plan accordingly. Plans are in the works for upgrades to the portables over the 2025 season.
- We are also in the process of creating educational literature for the site; please inquire when you book your visit.
